How to Unpack & Shape Your GemTree
Received a GemTree as a gift? Here’s how to get it looking beautiful.
Your GemTree is stronger than it looks, and the flexible wire makes it easy to open and shape.
Watch the video below to see exactly how to remove it from the packaging, unfold the branches and create the shape you love.
Take your time when opening your GemTree and work your way around the branches. Once you’ve opened it up, you can arrange the branches to create your own unique shape.
Easy Care for Your GemTree
To keep your GemTree looking beautiful:
- Dust with a dry, soft cloth, such as a glasses-cleaning cloth.
- Do not wash or soak your GemTree. Water can affect the wire and the glue.
- Always use clean hands when cleaning, shaping or rearranging the branches.
- To clean around the roots and between the stones, use an old, dry toothbrush.
The branches can be shaped and adjusted whenever you like. Avoid forcing the wire into sharp or tight bends.
Travelling With Your GemTree
Taking your GemTree home from Queenstown or travelling with it is easy.
The wire is flexible, so your GemTree folds flat for transport.
Keep your tree folded flat and protected in its original packaging whenever possible. When you arrive at your destination, remove the tissue, open the branches and reshape your tree.
Take a little piece of New Zealand home with you.
How Your GemTree Is Packaged
Before sending your GemTree to you, I wrap the branches in tissue paper to prevent them from tangling.
It is then protected with recycled commercial-grade bubble wrap and packed securely in a box.
Each GemTree also comes with a gemstone meaning leaflet.

If a Gemstone Comes Loose
Your GemTree is made to last, but occasionally a gemstone may come loose. This is usually very easy to fix.
Simply wipe the gemstone and the area where it attaches, then use a small amount of craft glue to reattach it.
I recommend Selleys All Fix for small repairs.
